Harry running past the demons that Binder summoned in Skin Game (as fast as a car?), picking up his stuck car, benchpressing 300 lbs, growing claws and jumping 50 feet.all very impressive physically. We also saw River Shoulders take on something like a dozen ghouls at once (not even sure if he used magic) and ripped them to shreds. Harry felt that Irwin (Scion kid of River Shoulders) summoning power was similar to Ebenezer. I let it slide though because apparently Sasquatch are super heavy hitters both physically and magically. Strength wise, the Genoskwa was so much more powerful than Harry that it wasn't even funny. In Skin Game, Dresden gets a one on one with Hannah, and beats her so badly he can afford to muse on their philosophical differences in the middle of combat. The book leaves no doubt in your mind that a fair fight between him and a Denarian would end with Dresden's death. Dresden is now fast and strong enough that Nick doesn't pose a direct physical threat to him any more.Īnother, more general, difference is that Dresden spends the entire time in Small Favor afraid of the Denarians and only takes them out through sucker punches and other cheap shots. If you read there interactions in Skin Game, that's gone. No magic, weapons, or direct fallen interference required, and they both know it. If you read the talk between Dresden and Nicodemus in the Shedd Aquarium in Small Favor, Dresden is terrified because Nick can easily kill him with speed and strength. Becoming Winter Knight did very little to make those stronger, so his default options that he turns to haven't changed, or gotten significantly stronger (though he has added ice magic to his regular weapons). I think the reason it can come across that way, is because the mantle added to his weaknesses, not his strengths.ĭresden's main weapons have always been fire, wind, and raw force. ![]()
